We’ve pushed a new Android update live this week. It’s a minor update that fixes an issue that some customers have reported where CoPilot Live was crashing on start up.
Please note that this update does not bring support for the latest version of Android 2.2 (aka Froyo). As with other Android developers, we were a bit surprised by how quickly Google released Froyo to customers, but we can tell you that our dev team are working hard on another update that will add full support. It will be released as soon as we can, although we can’t provide a specific day right now.
We appreciate your patience if you have already updated to Froyo – you can rest assured we are absolutely on the case!

If you could give us at least a timeframe, that would be helpful. Two days? A week? Not before August? Something like this.
Hi Tom,
I’m sorry we don’t have an exact or estimated time frame we can give you right at this moment. Please know we are working extremely hard to provide you with the update as soon as we can. As soon as we know more, I will post it here.
Thank you,
Devon
Thanks, I got referred to this blog post because I sent a ticket mentioning the crash issue. You might consider adding this information to the app in the Market… your ratings are going down at a rather alarming rate by people who wrongly assume you are not taking action. Just a tip
Hi Sophia,
Thank you for the wonderful suggestion and we will definitely try to let everyone in the Market know we are working on fixing the issue. And please be assured we are working to provide you an update very soon.
Thank you,
Devon
I would rather see a FREE TTS option added versus support of a new ver of Android
Hi Bryan,
Android supports native TTS within the OS from Android OS 1.6 and up, so if you have 1.6 or above, you can go into the phone settings and enable TTS. Here’s how:
In the Phone you go into SETTINGS > Text-To-Speech and tick ALWAYS USE MY SETTINGS to enable Speech Synthesis. It supports English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
Once you enable it in the Phone Settings and you launch CoPilot Live, it will automatically use the built-in OS TTS voice and not use the pre-recorded CoPilot audio we have in the app. When you disable the TTS in the Phone Settings, regular pre-recorded CoPIlot audio will resume when you re-launch CoPilot Live
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks,
Devon
Any news for CoPilot patch for Froyo ?? perhaps soon ??
Hi Amel,
Our product development team is continuing to work hard to add support for version 2.2 of the Android operating system ‘Froyo’. We are unable to provide a specific release date yet. We do appreciate the frustration if you have already upgraded to Froyo, and would like to emphasize that we will release an update to support it as soon as we can.
Thanks,
Devon
