Today we released an app update for CoPilot Live North America Android users: Version 8.2.0.368. *Note: the same update was released for USA customers last week, details here. The free update is available to download immediately from Android Market. The update brings a number of improvements and enhancements, mostly based on customer feedback. These include improved audio support for Bluetooth car kits and (for devices running Android OS v2.2), the ability to run CoPilot Live from a SD memory card.
Thanks to all the customers that provided us their feedback!
How to run from SD:
If your Android phone or tablet device is running Android OS version 2.2 aka Froyo, you can now run CoPilot Live directly from a memory card to free up memory space on your phone. Instructions for setting this up may vary depending on your phone but here is a typical example of how it should work for most Android devices:
- On your Android device, go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > CoPilot Live North America (or USA)
- Select Move to SD Card (or similar). Alternatively if CoPilot Live is already installed on the SD card you can choose to Move to phone
- Please note Run from SD is not available for phones with Android OS version 2.1 or earlier
Improved audio performance for Bluetooth car kits:
CoPilot Live’s spoken instructions will now be heard only through the car kit’s speaker (as opposed to the device and car kit).
More reliable map downloading:
We have fixed an issue relating to map-unpacking that was causing installation errors for some customers.
And for those who haven’t tried it yet, this update also includes 14 days use of the ActiveTraffic service. It’s absolutely free for 14 days and after the 14 days is complete—there is no obligation to purchase. If you like the service, you can purchase 12 months of use for $9.99 from CoPilot Central or the CoPilot Live webstore – where it’s currently 15% off with promo code Autumn15! Just enter the code at checkout.
If you decide you don’t need a traffic service at this time or are lucky enough to live in an area that is congestion free— that’s no problem—we thank you for giving it a try! As we stated you will not be charged for anything.

If you purchased CoPilot Live directly from the CoPilot Live web store you can download the update from http://www.alk.eu.com/copilotlive/androidinstall/
Happy travels!

When will CoPilot for Android be able to make use of the phone’s contact list?
Also, is it possible to have a sort and search feature for Favorites and Plan/Edit trips listing? A sort and search feature will make it quicker to locate and select the name/location to travel.
Thanks.
Hi Henry,
Thanks for the great feedback and suggestions! We realize the Google Contact integration is a highly requested feature for Android and it is something we’re looking into.
The sort and search function for Favorites and Saved Trips is a great suggestion, I will definitely pass that on to our development team.
Thanks again,
Devon
