Will any add-on map licenses from v8 carry over to this new version.
Hi Kevin,
This is not an upgrade to the previous CoPilot Live v8, it is a completely new app therefor you will not be able to transfer maps. Hope this information was helpful!
Hi Adrienne,
Will maps of Europe be available soon?
Hi Kevin,
You can purchase through the Android Market https://market.android.com/details?id=com.alk.copilot.eumarket.premiumeupan&feature=search_result.
Does the CoPilot Live Premium USA come with life time map updates?
Hi Rob,
The ALK MapSure service is available for CoPilot Live Premium and CoPilot Live Standard customers at no cost for 12 months. To activate this service, customers must add the Map Updates & Personal Connect feature pack to their CoPilot Live. During the initial setup of CoPilot Live, customers will be offered the pack as a free gift. You must accept and activate the pack to use the features. If you skip accepting the pack, you can always accept it at a later time. To do so, tap MyCoPilot > Features and Upgrades > Map Updates & Personal Connect Once the initial 12 months of free updates is complete, you can continue to use the ALK MapSure service by purchasing a 12 month subscription for $9.99. You can learn more about the ALK MapSure service here: http://www.alk.com/alk-digital-maps/gps-maps.asp
If you have additional questions, please let us know.
Thank you
are these maps also download to the SD card? I am looking for something that works when I am outside of T-mo’s service area.
Hi Rob,
You can download the app and the maps to your device or the SD card. The app is an offline solution so navigation will always be available to you whether you are in your service area or not. Only are Live Services which use the mobile Internet will not work if you are out of coverage. Services that use the Internet are noted in our feature list here: http://www.copilotlive.com/us/personal/android.asp
Thank you.
A couple of questions:
1. What’s the plan for Copilot 8 users? Will the app continue to be updated? More importantly, will the maps continue to be updated?
2. You wrote one of the features is “…Free Map Updates”. Can you clarify your policy on free map updates? In the android market, it says ” Exclusive ALK MapSure™ service that provides free monthly in-app map improvement downloads and full quarterly map updates for 1 year.” So to clarify, map updates are only provided for 1 year? That’s a change from your policy in the past.
3. Can you clarify that the premium version includes a map of Canada? (The market version is titled “CoPilot Live Premium USA”. If it includes Canada, you should rename it to Copilit Live Premium North America.
Hello Adrienne. Any chance you could answer my 3 questions above? They are pretty straightforward.
I am also interested in this question #2. Are map updates only provided for a year, are they provided for the life of the product, or as long as the company is in business?
Hi Larry,
Customers can still continue using their existing CoPilot Live v8 apps as they always have. The apps will remain on the App Stores and we will continue to update and provide support for the apps as needed. The ALK MapSure service, which includes monthly and quarterly map updates, will be available for v8 customers through September 2011. Map improvement requests will be accepted until September 30th, 2011 and the final monthly map update will be delivered to customers on October 15th, 2011.
CoPilot Live Premium and CoPilot Live Standard customers will recieve the ALK MapSure service at no cost for 12 months. To activate this service, customers must add the Map Updates and Personal Connect feature pack to their CoPilot Live. During the initial setup of CoPilot Live, customers will be offered the pack as a free gift. You must accept and activate the pack to use the features. If you skip accepting the pack, you can always accept it at a later time. To do so, tap MyCoPilot > Features and Upgrades > Map Updates & Personal Connect. Once the initial 12 months of free updates is complete, you can continue to use the ALK MapSure service by purchasing a 12 month subscription for $9.99.
The CoPilot Live Premium USA app does not include Canada. The Map of Canada is available to purchase for unlimited use for $4.99 via in-app purchase from both the CoPilot Live Premium USA and CoPilot Live Standard USA apps. To do so, tap MyCoPilot > Features and Upgrades > Map of Canada We will also be releasing a North America version of the apps that includes both U.S. and Canada maps in the near future.
If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
Thank you
How about an upgrade discount for existing users of Copilot 8?
Hi Steve,
The introductory price that is being offered is for current and existing users. CoPilot Live Premium is $9.99 for the 7 day discount and then will be priced at $29.99. CoPilot Live Standard is $2.99 for the 7 day discount and then will be priced at $4.99. Hope this helped!
How’s current different from existing? Sounds like the same thing to me.
v8 was $5 and you guys are wanting a discount. Good God.
v8 was not always $5. Plus, I think the new one is closer to the $20 version.
The market reports the app went up on June 21 but the post was made today about the 7 Day price, so it is 7 Days from the app being in the market or 7 Days from the post? Please give a solid date on when the sale ends.
Hello James,
The 7 day price starts today, June 27, 2011 and will end Sunday, July 3rd 2011.
Is it compatible with a tablet with no IMEI. The last update to CoPilot 8 rendered it useless on a tablet.
Hello,
The new CoPilot Live clears up the IMEI errors for tablet. You should no longer have issues going forward with new app. Hope this helped you!
Will this update fix the random turn on oneways street problem v8 had? As well, will my 10year old development now be on the map? Meaning will these maps e better than v8? And finally will lane assist actually popup more frequently and will clearview have tunnel guidance and also popup more often? I rarely see them popup and compared it with navigon and tom-tom and theirs popup for almost everything. Thanks for reading my question and hoping for a response,
Hello Ecrium,
Since the new CoPilot Live apps are using the current map data that was used in CoPilot Live v8, you can still report missing streets, missing address’s and one way streets to the Mapsure service. You can report a map update here. http://www.copilotlive.com/us/map/MapUpDate.asp
In the most recent map update we have added more clear turns & lane assist at interchanges and will continue to do so.
Hope this helped you!
If we already have CPL8 maps installed, will we have to redownload new maps if we purchase CPL9? With the very low throttling on your servers, it takes several hours to download North American maps.
Hi Les,
v8 or previous version maps are not compatible with CoPilot Live Premium and CoPilot Live Standard. When you download the new app, you will need to also download your maps.
We always suggest using WiFi to download maps to accelerate the process.
Thank you
Also sorry forgot this. Will the destination be said on which side of the street it’s on?
Hello Ecrium,
CoPilot Live will have it listed on the app which side of the street it is on but it will not speak it. Hope this helped you.
Purchase the Premium Version. In Version 8 there was a trial for Live Traffic, which did not work correctly for me. Prior to me paying for Live Traffic, is there any way to trial it to know how it works? I don’t want to pay and then find out it’s not any different?
Meant to say I did purchase the Premium Version today.
Hello Steve,
ActiveTraffic is the same as v8 although we have made updates to the UI. We do not offer a trial version but the active traffic costs $9.99 a year. Hope this was helpful.
Thanks, but without a trial I will skip purchasing.
Any plans for other countries?
For this price I would buy for my country (Brazil) and other 2 more (Portugal and Spain).
Hello Lucas,
If you check out the Android Market you can see what countries we have available currently https://market.android.com/search?q=CoPilot+Live&so=1&c=apps. However we will be adding additional countries in the near future. Hope this was helpful!
Just installed Copilot Premium.
Doesn’t work, period.
It will not determine a GPS position, it been trying for better than 15 minutes now. (and yes the GPS works just fine), Google Maps showed my position in a millisecond.
You can not enter an address as it enters repeated characters. I try to enter a City and the Auto correct or insert, whatever you call it duplicates anything you enter when you hit return so instead of entering the desired of “SEATLE” it will enter SEATSEATLE when you press enter. It then stops there and give you no further options.
If I do get in an address all I get for a planned route is a straight line between the two points. Nice trick in a car.
Also foolishly bought Canada maps but doesn’t display anything other than main highways.
How do I get my money back?
Oops. I responded to this post with a new post instead of a reply to this one. See my post below.
Inability to get a GPS fix is an issue with your GPS receiver, not the app. Google Maps is not a suitable test as it will fall back on other methods of determining your location. You need to use GPS Status or a similar app to determine if your GPS receiver is actually getting a GPS fix.
Hello Gord,
Could you supply an e-mail address or maybe e-mail support. We would like to better assist you so the problem can be taken care of.
Thank you
I would also be interested to purchase this if it had Mexico maps.
Hi Cladio,
We do not offer Mexico Maps but we will be adding additional maps in the near future.
Having the same problem with Canada bought the add-on for Canada and no steets, etc are searchable what’s going on ?
Hello Saqeb,
Thank you for notifying us, we are currently working on this error.
Having the same problem with Canada – NO STREETS!!!!!?????? Wats going on?????
Hi Cvet,
We are working on this and we appreciate you letting us know. Thank you
I appreciate your effort to fix the problem, hopefully soon
Thank You !
Can an ActiveTraffic subscription from Copilot Live USA v8 be used with or transferred to this new version?
Hello Michael,
For Android customers, a new ActivieTraffic subscription will need to be purchased with the new app. You are not able to transfer your CoPilot Live v8 ActiveTraffic to the new app.
Thank you
Hello, on the android market i can find:
copilot live premium italy
copilot live premium USA
copilot live standard USA
is there any chance to find “copilot live premium EUROPE” ? i recently (less than a month ago) bought around 50€ of european maps and it will be such a waste of money.
Try hitting the EU site for ALK.
Hello Andrea,
Please check Android Market for Europe premium https://market.android.com/details?id=com.alk.copilot.eumarket.premiumeupan&feature=search_result and check for UK & IRELAND https://market.android.com/details?id=com.alk.copilot.eumarket.premiumeumaj&feature=search_result
Hope this was helpful
Thanks, it got published after my comment. thanks again
@Gord — Do you use the FlexT9 alternate keyboard? If so, that’s probably what your keyboard problem is. FlexT9 and Copilot (V8 in my case, as I haven’t tried V9 yet) don’t get along for me and it messes up in the way you described. Try switching back to the Android keyboard, or use Swype.
Please make so that the voice can be turned off while all alarms remain on!
QueitGuy
Just using standard Asus keyboard (Asus Transfomer 10.1, Honeycomb)
Still no Canada Maps although they show as installed. We do have roads
Hi Gord,
We’re aware of the Canada maps issue and working to resolve it quickly. If you purchased the Map of Canada, you will definitely have the full street-level maps shortly. We will contact you directly and post a message here as soon as we have a resolution.
Thank you
Does the CoPilot Live Premium USA version include maps for Canada or do they still need to be purchased separately?
Hi Blair,
The Map of Canada is available to purchase via in-app purchase for $4.99 with both the CoPilot Live Premium and CoPilot Live Standard apps. . To do so, tap MyCoPilot > Features and Upgrades > Map of Canada We will also be releasing a North America version of the apps that includes both U.S. and Canada maps in the near future.
Thank you,
Blair,
Heck if I know
I installed North America with the Premium edition. Last I checked North America included Canada but went I went to try it I had to pay another 4.99 for Canada. If I already installed NA why I have to install and pay for Canada is beyond me.
After I installed the Canada maps there was nothing there just a few main highways and freeways. What I paid for I have no idea.
Nobody at ALK will answer the question.
Hello Gord,
Please contact support again they are still waiting for a response from you and are eager to get your matter fixed.
Hi Adrienne
I have sent support a response, 5 hours ago. I am awaiting Supports response.
I have to say their initial response to my 3 issues were not helpful.
They did not address my Map issue. The same issue others are obviously having if you have read above.
I still can not type in any addresses I only have the Asus keyboard on my tablet.
If I pick two destinations all I get is a straight line between the two points.
GPS locating seems to have resolved itself.
While you are here, why is it I have to purchase Canada maps when I have purchased and installed North America?
Thanks
Gord
Hello Gord,
Spoke With Support. Looks as though they have been working with you closely and you should expect a response from them today so that your matter will get worked out.
Adrienne – There seems to be a general problem with date and time stamps on your posts and noticed this for several weeks at least. There is also a problem with date and time stamps with posts in general. Since this is a blog for North America shouldn’t the software use or at least correct to a time zone that is used in North America and also indicate what time zone is used? After all, doesn’t GPS rely on extremely accurate timekeeping?
While this may seem trivial, is does make it extremely difficult to follow posts when the date and time stamps are out of sequence.
Thank you Les, we’re working on getting that fixed right now!!
I bought the ActiveTraffic upgrade and it is not showing on my device. It does show traffic, however, it does not show the bar on the right hand side like it used to and is displayed in your pictures. And what do I now do with my V8, can i transfer that license to someone else?
I believe I have multiple problems: 1) ActiveTraffic is not showing bar on left hand side, even though Settings->ActiveTraffice->Enable Traffic Service is checked, and I have paid for the added feature. 2) POIs are not showing up when i’m stopped, nor now that i have set to Always.
One more question.. copilot central is not able to detect my copilot live premium installation… Any upgrade on the way for this app? maybe something that can run on linux (and mac osx) as well?
thanks
Hi Andrea,
CoPilot Live Premium and CoPilot Live Standard are not compatible with CoPilot Central. You can download your maps directly through the device.
Thank you
Yes i use an android device (htc desire).
The reason why i use copilot central is just for keeping a managed backup and push some datas to you like the gps tracks. Other than that i always use my device.
Is co-pilot tied to the phone? That is, if I purchase it for my current Android phone and I switch phones in the future, do I need to purchase it again for the new phone?
Hi Andrew,
You will not need to purchase CoPilot Live again after you switch phones as long as you remain using the same OS. For example you can transfer a license from one Android device to another, but you can not transfer a license from an Android device to an iOS device.
Thank you
Can you tell us what the license transfer process is? In V8 you had to deactivate license on one device before you could activate it on a new one. There was an obvious problems with this model if your old device was lost, stolen, or broken to the point where youc could not deactivate the provious license. This happened to me and it took well over a week to resolve with your support – they take a long long time to respond to requests. Are we to expect similar hassles with the new version?
Also, I have two Android phones (personal and work) and both are tied to my single personal gmail account. Can you use a single purchase of Copilot Live V9 on both or will the license only work on one at a time?
Thank you in advance for your response.
Hi Arthur,
Currently we do not foresee any issues going further with the new version of CoPilot Live.
For your question regarding both Android Devices. You will have to purchase CoPilot Live on both devices, we do not offer a way to use both at the same time.
Hope this was helpful for you.
Adrienne, I noticed that you have not responded to either of my posts and neither has support. Can you please advise on how to proceed?
Hi Colin,
They will be reporting back to you shortly.
Thank you for your patience.
Hi Colin,
The Traffic bar that appears on the right side of the map will only appear if there are reported incidents along the calculated route. If the driver does not have a route calculated, the Traffic bar will not appear.
For the POI’s set to be displayed.
Go to MENU > SETTINGS > MAP DISPLAY > SHOW POIS ON MAP > CURRENTLY DISPLAYED POIS. Even if show POI’ s always is set up, if nothing is checked here then you may not be seeing the POI’s. Hope this was helpful for you.
I have been using CPL for three years on WM, iPhone, and for a year on the Android. The settings for POI as you have outlined above is set to SELECT ALL and nothing is showing. I have used ActiveTraffic since it was released and it works in my CPL 8, but not in the 9. Not only are both of these not working, when I go into CPL 8, I get a message (even though CPL 9 is properly exited) to FORCE CLOSE CPL(9). I currently have both of them on my Samsung Captivate.
Both your website and Android marketplace does not clearly state what features are included in standard and premium versions for $2.99 and $9.99.
1. In general i want to know if all the features listed here are available for unlimited usage in premium version for $9.99 without buying any additional packages?
2. Does the standard version include(without extra payment) unlimited text-to-speech usage?
3. This website also talks about in-app navigation packages. Are these applicable only for standard version or is it applicable for deluxe version too?
4. If it is also applicable for deluxe versions what packages specifically applies to standard version and what packages applies to deluxe version?
5. Under “3D Advanced Unlimited” package it states text-to-speech, does this mean both standard and deluxe version does not come with text-to-speech without buying this package for additional $14.99?
Thank you in advance for your response.
Hello Sam,
Premium offers unlimited use of our full set of navigation features. You can view the full feature set here: http://www.copilotlive.com/us/personal/android.asp The only additional services or maps available for purchase are ActiveTraffic for $9.99 a year, Live Fuel Prices for $4.99 a year and the Map of Canada for $4.99
Standard offers full turn-by-turn navigation, standard POIs and route calculation and the option to add as many features as you need via in-app purchase. Features are available through navigation packs, which are detailed in the blog post above. Regarding TTS, the Standard version includes regular voice guidance, it does not include TTS. You will need to purchase the 3D Advanced package for TTS.
Thank you.
Can you tell us what the license transfer process is? In V8 you had to deactivate license on one device before you could activate it on a new one. Hi Arthur,
Currently we do not foresee any issues going further with the new version of CoPilot Live.
For your question regarding both Android Devices. You will have to purchase CoPilot Live on both devices, we do not offer a way to use both at the same time.
Hope this was helpful for you.
So how will updates for V8 go? Will I continue receiving Map and Program updates? If I purchase V9 will I then need to purchase v10 in a year?
Hi Tracy,
The ALK MapSure service, which includes monthly and quarterly map updates, will be available for v8 customers through September 2011. Map improvement requests will be accepted until September 30th, 2011 and the final monthly map update will be delivered to customers on October 15th, 2011.
We do not have any information on plans for future apps at this time.
Thank you.
Can I get clarification on Standard vs. Premium for Android please. As I read the description Premium includes unlimited use of the “In-app navigation packs” that are available for the Standard edition? In other words Premium includes Personal Routes, 3D Advanced, Free Map Updates and Map of Canada?
And just to add, this looks like a wonderful update, it includes many features I have been hoping for. Drag and drop routes is huge for mobile navigation, I have wanted that from the day I got my Droid. Very nice job.
Hi Jim,
I will be happy to clarify for you. The answer to your question is Yes. Standard gives you the option to select packages.
Premium is all of the packages in one app. There is no need to pick bundles for it. The only feature you mentioned that has to be purchased outside of the app is the map of Canada, besides that everything you mentioned is included in the CoPilot Live Premium purchase.
Hope this was helpful and thank you very much for the positive feedback, I agree the Drag and Drop routes is a great feature I love using it too!
Hi Jim,
I’m sorry if the response above is not completely clear, so just to confirm. The Premum app includes all the features included in the 3D Advanced, Personal Routes and Map Updates & Personal Connect navigation packs. It does not however include the Map of Canada or our subscription based services ActiveTraffic and Live Fuel Prices. These are available to purchase from within the app by tapping MyCoPilot > Features and Upgrades.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Thank you.
Adrienne,
with your comments here I was able to get the Premium version for the USA and Europe.
But now I have two applications on my phone.
I was expecting one app with a larger set of maps.
Please clarify – thanks.
Bernhard
Hi Bernhard,
We apologize if there is confusion. We don’t offer one app with both USA and Europe. Each app is listed separately on the Android Market and available to purchase separately.
Thank you.
Like a couple of previous comments, I would like to know what is the difference in the premium Vs standard editions. I realize the differences are listed on the website but not clearly. Could a simple bullet/checklist be created which would make it easier to understand.
I’m trying to find out more infomation on the Navigation SDK but the links appear to be broken. Really interested if I can start CoPilot live from my own Android app by passing in lat/long points to navigate to.
Hi Jim,
We apologize if the links on the site are broken, we’ve just launched a new global site. I just checked and everything appears to be working on the Enterprise site: http://www.copilotlive.com/uk/enterprise/entProfessional.asp?subNav=cplp
Is there something in particular you’re trying to access?
Thank you.
How about some love for webOS? Any plans for an HP Palm Pre, Pre2, Pre3, Veer, or TouchPad version?
Hi Rob,
No we don’t have plans for those at this time.
Thank you.
Your maps pretty outdated compared to competitors. Can you pls clarify this “How old are the the maps included in this version of premium(v9)?.
Hi Rao,
The CoPilot Live Premium USA and Standard USA apps use the latest ALK Digital™ Maps of the U.S. and Canada, which we also use in our current v8 products. We are continuously working to enhance ALK’s Digital Maps™ to provide the best possible navigation experience. You can help us improve specific areas by reporting a road or address that is missing or needs updating through our MapSure service. You can learn more here: http://www.alk.com/alk-digital-maps/gps-maps.asp
Thank you
I already have CPL8 on my HTC Incredible. (Text to speech and Navigate to Contacts are my favorite features).
Will installing the new product also install a new US map?
Can the map be installed on internal storage (the Incredible has 8GB) instead of the SD card?
Yes, I know that I will need 3D Advanced to have Navigate to Contacts and TTS in the new release. I’m looking at the Premium version.
Adrienne, I’m still confused. Does the Premium USA package include maps of Canada or not? This is important, since I live in Canada.
Also, will there be a NA version or just the USA version with Canada add-on?
ack, ignore Adrienne’s cut and pastes. She also said that… “Premium is all of the packages in one app. There is no need to pick bundles for it. The only feature you mentioned that has to be purchased outside of the app is the map of Canada, besides that everything you mentioned is included in the CoPilot Live Premium purchase.”
The problem is that the copy writer should never have stuck the Canadian maps with the navigation packs.
I think that the situation is:
In-app navigation packs include:
…
Personal Routes Unlimited Use for $9.99
…
3D Advanced Unlimited Use for $14.99
…
Free Map Updates & Personal Connect Unlimited Use for Free
…
(and completely separate)
Purchasers of Live Premium or Live Standard can also purchase
Map of Canada Unlimited Use for $4.99
Hi Andy,
Thank you for clearing that up, we apologize for the confustion. We’ve noted it on the blog post.
Thank you.
With new version being completely new (and not an upgrade from V8), I have following question: I have de-activated V8 from my phone, and installed (and activated) V9. So far, so good.
Can I transfer (purchased, still legal, but obsolete) V8 to e.g. my son? Both of us are using Android. From Android market, there is no way (for him) to install V8 without purchasing it on the Market.
Hi George,
Glad you are enjoying your new app. There is no way to transfer your v8 license to another user. They will need to purchase the app for themselves.
Thank you.
Adrienne,
In v8, the speed limit mentioned in the 3D option was not available in North America. Am I assuming correctly that it is available now with the premium package and the standard package add-on?
Hi Harold,
Speed limits is a brand new feaure that is only available for CoPilot Live Premium and CoPilot Live Standard. You are correct, it was not available in our CoPilot Live v8 apps. The speed limit feature is availble as part of the Premium app and available as an add on through the 3D Advanced navigation pack for the Standard app.
If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
Thank you.
I recently bought a second subscription to Co-Pilot Live 8, as I had to reset my phone and didn’t want to go through the whole getting new keys etc…now I have bought Co_pilot Live 9, (which seems pretty much exactly the same as 8 with a few bells and whistles but still some absolutely awful routing and map inaccuracies…which I have reported about four times over the last year…) but it sounds like the company is going to make us pay yet another subscription for Active Traffic for the new version!!! That means I will have paid three subscriptions in the last six months! Also, you say this is not an upgrade but #1 it sure looks just like an upgrade, and #2, it was not made clear that it was not… Please tell me I will be able to transfer my subscription…after all, why on earth would anyone want TWO of the same app installed on the phone, taking up space? That really doesn’t make sense!
Hi David,
You did not need to purchase a second subscription to CoPilot Live v8 if you were resetting your phone.
For Android devices, we are working to enable v8 customers to be able to transfer their remaining ActiveTraffic subscriptions to CoPilot Live Premium and Standard. It is not possible currently but will be soon, so I would advise you not to purhase another ActiveTraffic license at this time.
Thank you.
Hi David,
To give you an update, we will be releasing an update that allows you to transfer your v8 ActiveTraffic license in the next couple days, if not sooner.
Thank you.
Along with a number of other people, I am confused. Are there free map updates for just one year? Could you clarify?
Premium quality maps with free map updates:
✔ Exclusive ALK MapSure™ service that provides free monthly in-app map improvement downloads and full quarterly map updates for 1 year
Hi Explore,
You can read more about the Map Updates here: http://blog.copilotlive.com/na/2011/06/30/all-your-questions-answered/
Thank you.
Hello. i just purchased Copilot Premium for 9.99, however I see an additional tax charge for copilot for $4.95 I did not know there would be an additional charge.
Im with T-Mobile. Help please…. Not fair.
bump!
Hello Erik,
Please Contact techsupport@alk.com, they will help you with this matter.
Thank you.
One week since contacting ALK through email, no response. Only received the auto-reply confirming my contact..
All taken care of. Just received my bill online, and the tax is gone.
Will CPL8 continue to be supported? If so, for how long and does this include map updates?
Will there be a more reliable release schedule of the monthly and quarterly map updates for CPL9?
These questions are specifically related to monthly map maintenance updates and quarterly map updates. Especially in the last six months it seems that no schedule existed and we went for several months without monthly updates and then were given the April and May monthly updates just seven days apart in mid-June. The quarterly updates were four months apart by release date but five or six months apart in terms of period covered (e.g., In February the 4th quarter 2010 quarterly updates were released and in June the quarterly update from May was released).
Thank You
What is the status of the speech recognition module? Will there ever be a speech recognition module?
This was promised for CPL8 at the time of product release but never came to be and after about a year or so ALK eventually removed the promise from the product description.
Thank You
Hi Notch,
We will not be releasing speech recognition for the Premium and Standard apps.
Thank you.
I couldn’t find the Europe version on the market so bought the UK version to not miss out on the intro offer – would be good if it had an expiry date rather than just say 7 days. Then the next day the Europe version appeared but if I try to buy the maps they are at full price from within the app. Is there any way to upgrade from UK to European maps at the promotional price without just buying it all again? ie an additional cost of around £15.
1. Do these come with new maps or just a shiny new UI?
2. Why oh why would you want the new version on your devise as well as the an old v8 version? Why not just update the UI and leave the maps, unless the map data is also new?
3. It says the offer is available for 7 days finishing on sunday, but you only sent me the e-mail today?
Adrian
Hi Adrian,
CoPilot Live Premium USA and Standard USA apps use the latest ALK Digital™ Maps of the U.S. and Canada, which we also use in our current v8 products.
You don’t have to keep both apps on your device, that is your decision.
The offer is from the day we launched the apps which was June 27th so you still have until July 3rd to buy the app at a discounted price!
Thank you.
I read in one of Adrienne’s replies below that the Standard version has no TTS. Sorry if this is a dumb question but …
Does this mean that the Standard version still has generic voice navigation such as “turn left in 100 meters” but does not speak street names OR does this mean it has no voice navigation whatsoever?
Hi Kevin,
Yes the Standard version has generic voice guidance, it will tell you to “turn left” or “turn right” but will not say street names for example “Turn right on Main Street”.
Let us know if you have any additional questions.
Thank you.
Just an observation…..even after reading through all these posts I believe there are still many unanswered questions. I think that it should be incumbent on CoPilot, especially since this special offer is for such a short time, to present a FAQ section for this upgrade. Almost all of the questions I have seen so far should have been anticipated by your company.
As one of you many loyal users (read: customers) on several different devices, I find it unacceptable that such a big change/release has been handled so ineptly. And many of the answers that have been provided here, if they have been answered at all, are in many cases ambiguous. The absence of clearly explained, timely responses gives me the impression that we are not being given the full story, or worse, your sales/marketing people don’t know the full story.
As there is just too much room for surprises, I will not be making an informed decision until I am given the tools to do so. This will probably mean that I will miss out on the upgrade offer, which in turn will lead me to explore other options. Sorry CoPilot, but this is simply poor execution on your part!
Hi Richard,
Thank you for your comments and we do apologize if you feel that way. We have posted a full Q&A on the blog for customers this morning that we feel covers all of the questions you may have. If you still have additional questions, please let us know and we’ll be happy to answer them.
Thank you.
I have been using Copilot Live 8 for a few months and loved it.
I now have bought the premium version and it looks great. However I am really shocked and surprised to see that My Places is an optional service. This means that I cannot save my favorite addresses, nor I can see the recent places I visited. Am I missing something? Because the absence of this feature in “premium” version kills the deal.
Also this post says that Maps update are free forever, but I think I was given the option to use this service for one year free.
Can anyone let me know what I am doing wrong?
Hi Sohail,
My Places is a free feature in both Premium and Standard, you just need to activate the Map Updates & Personal Connect feature pack. To do so, go to MyCoPilot > Features and Upgrades > Map Updates & Personal Connect
The Map Updates & Personal Connect pack also gives you free map updates for 12 months. You must accept and activate the pack to use the features. Once the initial 12 months of free updates is complete, you can continue to use the ALK MapSure service by purchasing a 12 month subscription for $9.99. You can learn more about the ALK MapSure service here: http://www.alk.com/alk-digital-maps/gps-maps.asp
If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
Thank you.
Devon,
Thanks for the subscription transfer! Any chance we can get the Speed Limit feature working in Los Angeles…I have to say, I didn’t see it say the service was limited anywhere when I purchased v.9
Thanks,
David
Hi David,
Speed limit data is available on major highways throughout the U.S. We will be adding more speed limit data in future free updates.
Thank you,
Devon
Thanks for the reply. That’s the weird part. First time when I ran copilot it asked me to activate that feature and I said yes. But it didn’t. And for some reason I don’t get that option in Features and Upgrades either, only the Traffic and Fuel Prices features are listed there. I contacted copilot tech support and they sent me instructions basically to un-install and re-install. The same thing again. it asked but did not activate it. I am using the same gmail address to sign into copilot account that I used to make the payment. I contacted them again and they said that they would have to escalate the issue.
Anyway I am still stuck with a degraded version of copilot in which I cannot save any addresses. I don’t even know why would you guys make such a basic feature as a separate feature that you have to enable instead of just having it available for anyone and everyone. Any app without this feature is useless, even a free app, let alone a paid app.
Hi Sohail,
Try this and let us know if it worked correctly for you.
- Uninstall CoPilot
- Connect your device to your computer via USB and mount the SD card
- Browse the \SD Card\com.alk.copilot.namarket.premiumusa
- Delete the “save” folder and the “user.cfg” file
- Reinstall CoPilot from the Android Market
Thanks,
Adrienne
I just purchased Copilot Live standard, for $4.99 online and after downloading all the maps, I find that my home address is not included, and the street I live on is not included.
Plus addresses of several friends is not included. Is the map coverage in Tenn & NC not complete?
This GPS will not be much use to me if I cant navigate to established residence addresses.
Can I get a refund?
Hi Jack, I apoligize for your inconvenience. Can you please try contacting support with your inquiry. http://www.copilotlive.com/us/support/supportContact.asp
My device – the ‘Samsung Galaxy Gio’ is not listed in the compatibility list.
Has this been shown to be NOT compatible – or has it just not been tested yet ?
