ActiveTraffic Now Standard on All CoPilot Live Premium Apps
Award-Winning GPS Routing and INRIX Traffic Intelligence Saves Drivers Time, Fuel, and Frustration
Princeton, NJ – April 25 , 2012 - ALK Technologies, one of the world’s leading developers of mobile navigation software, today announced CoPilot Live Premium now includes ActiveTraffic™ as a standard feature.* Powered by INRIX real-time traffic information, ActiveTraffic provides drivers with insight into the fastest routes, helping them save time and fuel every day.
Previously an optional $9.99 annual subscription, ActiveTraffic uses real-time traffic speeds to intelligently calculate the fastest route to a destination and provide an accurate estimated time of arrival (ETA). While you drive, ActiveTraffic continuously monitors the route ahead for delays and alerts you if a faster route is available. If a faster route is identified, ActiveTraffic provides a revised time to destination and displays the new route.
“Real-time traffic information is becoming an essential navigation feature for drivers to reduce delays and fuel costs caused by traffic jams,” comments David Quin, Head of Consumer Applications at ALK Technologies. “We are delighted to make ActiveTraffic a standard feature for our CoPilot Live Premium customers. It is useful every day for any type of journey, whether commuting to work, running errands, or on a weekend getaway.”
Accurate within 2 mph of actual traffic speeds, INRIX provides drivers real-time traffic information for more than 1 million miles of highways, city streets, and heavily trafficked local roads. INRIX‘s traffic intelligence is fuelled by more sources than any other platform including a crowd-sourced network of nearly 100 million drivers – the largest driving community in the world. The result is a service that updates traffic information to drivers every minute, ensuring they always know the best route, expected travel time, and ETA for any destination.
“ALK recognizes drivers increasingly are looking for more than just directions. They’re looking for insight,” said Kush Parikh, Senior Vice President of Business Development, INRIX. “According to the U.S. Treasury Department1, soaring gas prices and traffic snarls cost Americans $7 billion a year in wasted fuel. INRIX helps CoPilot Live users select routes that not only save time but save them money on gas by using less fuel.”
CoPilot Live Premium apps with 12 months of FREE ActiveTraffic service are available immediately on the Apple App Store and on Google Play. Existing CoPilot Live Premium customers can download a free update to enjoy the service. Customers who have an existing ActiveTraffic subscription will receive an extra 12 months at the conclusion of their current subscription.
Pricing (includes lifetime use navigation and 1 year of ActiveTraffic):
CoPilot Live Premium starting at $14.99
CoPilot Live Premium HD starting at $19.99
*12 months use of ActiveTraffic is included as standard within CoPilot Live Premium apps for Android and iOS devices. Requires a mobile Internet connection. ActiveTraffic is not available in Canada.
