Our CoPilot Live Australasia iPhone App has been approved for sale by Apple and is now available on the AppStore.
It brings full-featured voice guided sat nav to the iPhone for AUD $89.99, which gives you the latest street detailed maps of both Australia and New Zealand. As with our other CoPilot apps it’s a one-time purchase for unlimited navigation. Maps are stored on the phone, not downloaded per trip.
Australasia versions for Windows Mobile and Android are coming soon.

Where is the android version? You’ve been saying ‘soon’ for a LONG time now!! Give us some kind of update
We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused. We’re working on making it available via Google Android Market right now and expect to make an announcement about that within the next week or two.
Does the Australian version of CoPilot include Safety camera database?
Not at the moment.
Bugger the iPhone.
Are the Australian maps available on Windows mobile, and are they 6.5/7 compatible?
Australasia maps are available as a map upgrade for existing CoPilot Live 8 customers. CoPilot Live is fully Windows Mobile 6.5 compatible. Windows phone 7 isn’t out for a good while yet.
Australasian maps are not available for WM Copilot v8 – they’re nowhere to be found in Copilot Central, and you can’t buy them online.
Agreed, some more definitive information regarding the availability of Austrlian maps for the Android version would be much appreciated.
I have read soon posted way too many times now with regard to this question
I am considering purchasing co pilot live AU NZ for iphone
I’m trying to find out if it has speed cameras and text to speech
It’s hard to find information what’s currently supported in the AU NZ version
it appears as though co pilot iphone has or supports different features in different countries.
there is no information on the co pilot web site about the AU NZ version.
most online reviews are either the US or UK versions
I’m predominantly interested in what is supported/works in NZ
I purchased sygic mobile maps Au NZ for iphone which is supposed to have speed cameras for NZ and AU.
there are no speed cameras shown in the app for NZ
at least text to speech works.I don’t want to make the same mistake with co pilot
Hello. Text-to-speech is not included with the Australasia version (but add-on will be available as a premium update). Safety cameras are only (currently) shown in Europe maps versions of CoPilot Live.
So TTS is available elsewhere but we’ll be slugged for it? That’s taking the down-under tax to more obvious levels than usual, isn’t it?
Be assured that this blatant discrimination (not US = pay more) is not encouraging me to buy your product.
Hello Juice – the price of CoPilot Live does vary in certain regions due to the varyiable price of the maps we use in the software. We genuinely believe that our Australasia app offers by far the best value of any navigation app available based on features, quality mapping and performance. We have also included Australia and New Zealand – unlike some others more expensive options that offer Australia only.
TTS will be available as a premium option in the near future in Europe as well as Australia. More news here soon.
The makers of the other options did 5 minutes of market research and concluded bundling Australia and NZ makes no sense and increases the cost for people in both countries
Got Co-Pilot Australasia a couple of days ago and have been pretty impressed with it so far. It does have a couple of annoyances though.
First, the auto day/night mode seems way out in NZ- at 10am it had me in night mode! Is this being determined by another time zone perhaps?
Seconndly my street in Kawerau doesn’t have street numbers loaded into co-pilot – is info like this being actively updated? Not really a problem in this case (I know where my house is) but would be annoying is I was looking for an address.
Thirdly it’s a pain having to enter a suburb before a street name, especially as Co-Pilot seems to have som suburbs/towns needlessly divided into “north”, “south” etc even when these aren’t distinctions ever made by the locals. For example my address is listed as being in “Kawerau South”, which is news to me as I though I just lived in Kawerau! Again this would be annoying when searching for an address that you’d never been to as you might not actually know whether it’s in the North, South, or whatever of the town in question. Being able to just enter the street name and have a list appear as happens with POIs would fix this. These are niggles rather than deal-breakers though- it’ still an impressive pieve of software, and hopefully you’re actively working to iron things like these out.
Thanks for the feedback Dave. We’re looking into that time-zone issue. I’ve passed your other feedback on to product management team.
Yes, there are more updates coming for CoPilot Live for Australasia. You’ll have in-app iPod controls, fixed lat/lon destination entry and additional GPS performance enhancements with the next update (probably next week).
thanks for the info Christian and David,
well I to purchased co pilot Australasia for iphone
same problem here auto day/night mode does not work (NZ)
speed limits don’t work either, visually or audibly. I presume the speed limit of the road you’re on is supposed to show on the map once enabled
trying to search for addresses having to enter town fist is diabolical
dam near imposable if you’ve no idea were the street is. which is kind of why your using a gps in the fist place.
should be more like google maps I know other GPS devises search in a similar way
but it’s the 21 century now if google maps can present you with it’s best guess of the address location your looking for plus a selection or similar names, why can’t co pilot.
personally I’d rather have to scroll down a list of the same street names in different locations that spend what seems like an eternity trying various combinations and permutations of city names to find the address I was looking for.
besides all that it’s a great product !
shame TTS is going to be an add on for NZ.
you guys might not be aware but here in NZ sygic costs the same as copilot has Australian and New Zealand maps, and has TTS
Please make a version without New Zealand that reasonably priced! I dont know if you’ve ever looked at them zoomed out but you cant drive from Australia to New Zealand and most aussies never will drive in NZ in their lives so why is it compulsory that we get slugged extra because you licensed NZ maps?
Actually the inclusion of both Australia and NZ was one of the reasons that I went for Co-Pilot- as I spend time in both countries, it meant that my choice was immediately narrowed down to Co-Pilot or Sygic, as Tomtom costs more than either of those for each individual country!
However I would agree that many more Aussies and Kiwis would only require a version with one of the two countries as many of them don’t often cross the Tasman.
When will copilot 8 Australian Maps be available for Windows Mobile?
I have already purchased Copilot 8 because the above website clearly stated in the “Maps coverage overview CoPilot Live v8 maps are available for the following countries, regions and continents:…Australasia (complete street level coverage)Australia, New Zealand…”, but it’s not available! I have bought the application on the basis of the above, it’s false advertising (FAQ saying available soon is not good enough after you one has purchased the product and starts looking deeper what’s wrong), enough with “coming soon” and have Australian Maps available for Windows Mobile now! I’m not happy at all with your misleading webpage and I’ll go back to TomTom and purchase Navigator 7 if this not resolved very soon.
When will Copilot 8 Windows Mobile Australasia Maps be available? One not very happy customer!
I completely agree with Ross.
I sent a question to CoPilot Technical Support and got the response on 30 Nov saying:
“Thank you for contacting CoPilot Technical Support. In regards to your query, I would like to inform you that the maps for Australia is still not available in the copilot version 8. sorry any inconvenience. If you have any further questions, or feel that this incident has not been resolved to your satisfaction, please do not hesitate to bring this to our attention.”
How can you say “Maps coverage overview CoPilot Live v8 maps are available for the following countries, regions and continents:…Australasia (complete street level coverage)Australia, New Zealand…”, on the alk main website and then not have it available for your customers? That is false advertising. I’m sure the ACCC (the Australian government department for consumer affairs) would not be happy with that.
If, as you stated on your UK site, “We are aiming to release new map regions later in 2009.”, how much later than December will that be? Some people are looking for Christmas gifts you know! Now would be a good time!
We have been calling CoPilot for an update for the release of Maps for AUS & NZ, they said they will email us within a week. After 2 weeks later & another phone call, got a response.
“Thank you for contacting CoPilot Technical Support.
We checked with our technicians but unfortunately we do not have a date of release for the Australian maps yet.
Please check regularly our website
http://www.alk.eu.com”
Got hold of sales as well, one of them said they are wondering how come it is not yet on the website.
Hope they will release soon bec like TimAus, want to buy it for myself as christmas gift.
Hello, we are sorry for the continued delay in the availability of Australia + NZ v8 for Windows Mobile. This will become available at the beginning of next week, and we will post a notification here on the blog. Thanks for your patience.
Hello David
Now it’s Monday, 7th December 2009, do you have an official launch date please?
Regards
Ross
Hello, apologies for the continued delay. The Australia version of the software will be launched at the same time as our 1st Worldwide software update to CoPilot Live v8 Windows Mobile. This update is in final quality review to ensure that the experience is everything you would expect from CoPilot on the widest possible range of phones/devices. Unfortunately this has taken a bit longer than we first hoped. Realistically this will now not be posted until Monday or Tuesday of next week.
I appreciate that this has been frustrating – please believe me we want to make the product available as soon as we can, but we will not short-cut our internal quality procedures.
Hello David
Now it’s Tuesday, 8th December 2009, as Marketing Director surely David you would have an official launch date by now? Is there something ‘wrong’? If not, then please stop wasting our time for us having to keep visiting this blog in a drawn out anticipation of availability, for this situation is already totally unacceptable.
But your own post, Mr Quin, in October said:
“We have also added Australasia maps as an upgrade for existing CoPilot Live v8 Android and Windows Mobile customers. The upgrade is available to purchase and download immediately through CoPilot Central 2.0.”
Windows Mobile “is” available “immediately”. That was what you said in October. I am a Windows Mobile user, was happy with CoPilot 7, upgraded to CoPilot 8 on the basis of “immediate” availability. I am now very disillusoned with CoPilot and the standards of your customer support.
