When will the promised, and long overdue QWERTY keyboard become available ?

(The fact that the update routine in Copilot Central did not work is yet another irritating matter), questions still remain un-answered (or avoided), as to when we will get any of the features that are advertised with Copilot e.g. live traffic which was promised months ago and is still not available. A QWERTY keyboard has been promised for WinMo users but that hasnt materialised. I also dont understand how you can say text to speech is available, when its not (Referring to previous posts). With regards to point 14 of the update list. Unless this option is in a secret or hidden menu, its no where to be found. Why the mis-information ?? As your no doubt finding from recent posts, customers arent to happy about your product support and the delivery of promised features. In particular WinMo users, who seem to be left by the way side at the expense of iphone customers.

Hi Shaky, I think you have the options mixed up. This new option “14. Introduced just ahead warning – to be set by distance or by time before turn” as shown above, is no where to be found, Its certainly not on my Copilot.
its very nice you are doing update for the window one and if some people buy tom tom years ago like with copilot 3.1 and you may have not done new version.As i have lot of copilot for some years now and i have not seen a new for my very very out of date on copilot 7 ,what are alk doing about it .

i guess central is the weak spot of copilot both on Android and WinMo…
You guys should seriously think about increasing the consumer base, and one option is to bring the price down.
Other mobile devices have very cost-effective navigation apps, but wish your app was priced to match the competition.
I will buy CoPilot for Windows Mobile as soon as you lower the price to something like $20. I saw the sale price, but when I clicked buy it showed a higher price. Got a response from the support team that the page wasn’t updated properly, but it would have been nice of you to honor the price you had on your website.

Like the others here – no joy, Central (yes, the latest version) reports no update available. Will this update solve multiple-repeat camera alarms, especially when no routing is set? Qwerty keyboard? Will my screen still blank out after the login timeout (on HP214 iPaq), leaving me to navigate by voice instruction alone? Howabout when, after turning around at a destination, I get routing with no route highlight overlay on the map – is that fixed? And will the routing highlight actually overlie the map route, or will it continue as at present, where the map at reduces to straight lines between points whilst the route highlight meanders about over the (probably) accurate path, leading to a pronounced missfit between the highlight and the map. How about an easy one, did you get the colour of the motorway/trunk route signage correct yet in Switzerland, or is it still reversed? And my biggest bugbear – will I still have to set my preferred driving view option every time I use CoPilot (2d-next turn), or will it remember?

We’re looking into that. I know that you must the latest Central build installed and have your device connected via ActiveSync. If your device isn’t connected via ActiveSync (or Vista/Windows 7 equivalent) then the update will not show.

OK, I have tried, but your instructions state:
“5) Copy the above 2577 and CoPilot folders to the root or your Storage Card”
Unfortunately the download unzips to give only a 2577 folder, there is no Copilot folder, so I am reluctant to try in case it hangs waiting for the missing Copilot folder.

Hi Christian, thanks for the download and instructions, updated to .557 successfully. A couple of things I’ve noted; CSV import doesn’t work (never has though OV2 always has), CPL8 goes though the import process but at the end says 0 POIs imported, this applies to safety cameras and POIs; Day/Night Auto switching is still a mystery, (I’m in Australia) day switch occurs at 1100hrs AEST and night switch at 2100hrs AEST; V.557 seems not to recognise voice files that aren’t supplied with CPL8, I’m using an AU voice file from CPL6 (as opposed to the terrible EN-AU “a dingo eat my baby” voice) , which wasn’t found, but worked when I copied all voice files into the CPL voice folder; a biggy for me after 3 versions .557 finally remembers a loaded route on quitting and restarting the application – well done. I’d like to see the minimum overspeed warning 5 kph not 10 (the Man won’t accept 10km over with the current speed detection technology). All in all a good update. Waiting on TTS – its almost there

Just like the others, CC2 will not show the update even tho I followed the tutorial to the dot. Several times. Mind you, I’m using a non-touch device. The update is for both touch and non-touch devices, right?

However, I am doubtful as Central did not show up the update for the CoPilot software – I got it through a link someone kindly put on Facebook.

The store part of Central shows what essentially is a webpage, so it will automatically display.
Christian Oliff I have tried your update but the autorun file isn’t an exe file so it doesnt run i have downloaded it a couple ot times the same result both times.
Once you’ve copied (merged) the 2577 folder you downloaded to the 2577 folder on your device, you can install the update by clicking on either copilot.wmppc (for touchscreen devices) or copilot.wmsp (for non-touchscreen devices) CAB.

I eventually got there thanks Christian run the copilot.wmppc in the 2557 folder it removed the older version and updated it with the latest version V8.0.0.557 seems to be OK haven’t tried it outside yet also still waiting for the premium services like text to speech will keep an eye on it this week it said on the blog that it will be released this week so I will hold you to it copilot

I am also having a CC latest version, I have unistalled all previous and use only this but CC still show no updates available, tried on WIN7 via ActiveSync many times. Appreciate your support to get also “download instruction” once those available here does not work at all trying several times. My device is HTC Diamond 2 with installed VW6.5 if does help.

Yes, you can add maps of Canada/USA (if you have CoPilot Live v8 for Windows Mobile or Android). You can buy the map upgrade via Central v2 or via our webstore.

Hi, Why no copilot live central and the latest updates for the HTC HD2, as this is the latest and finest Windows Mobile unit available at the moment.
The HTC HD2 ships with a customised version of CoPilot Live v8 on the ROM of the device which is enhanced to work with multitouch (pinch-zoom) and the HTC dock capability. If users were to install the standard CoPilot Live v8 update on their device they would lose that functionality as well as likely face other stability issues. There is currently no news on when a update for the HD2 will be available.
I’m really want to know WHEN it will be available for HD2. Will this in next days, weeks, months, years?
The extra added multitouch and htc dock capability (don’t have it, so I don’t miss it), I don’t care.
I’ve updated to the previous version (also not customized for the hd2) and that just works fine, but I like very much the new features in the new version.
So is it possible to upgrade to the new version anyway?

I got my HTC HD2 from T-Mobile UK and it did not have the customised version of CoPilot Live v8 installed in the ROM (T-Mobile tweaked ROM as ever).
I purchased the online upgrade (from my previous v6) to v8 and installed it onto my HD2.
Are you able to provide a installer that would add the ability for these phones on the standard sd card install base to use enhancements if applicable? (phone version check on start which enables or disables functionality accordingly, would also work for any other phones that turn up with multitouch functionality in future without having to customise)
or
is there a way I (or others in this situation) could update to the latest version without these enhancements (which I don’t currently have anyway) to my phone? my download link after purchase has version 346 not updated version.
Also have to agree with others about QWERTY keyboard layout option for Windows Mobile phones… On a HD2 the QWERTY for standard use is very easy to use, could you patch into this keyboard perhaps?

Hi Rick. If you do not have CoPilot Live on the ROM then you can absolutely update your CoPilot Live v8 to the latest version. I’ve sent you an email with instructions.

I can confirm that Christian’s link above does work, and I now have traffic, fuel prices and live search on Windows Mobile in the UK. Having said that, live traffic is telling me that there’s problems on the M6, and you don’t really need to pay £19.99 to know that

Open Copilot, go to Settings and scroll through until you get to the Licencing button. Click it, then click Upgrade button at bottom then type in the key you were given with your confirmation email. Click next, job done.

Thats for link, seems to work great, no stability issues on my HD2 (custom ROM). one question, how does the over the air download for safety cameras work? My camera data base is really out of date but Copilot didn’t say anything when i told it to check for updates.
Glad to hear it updated okay. The over-the-air updates should have a safety cam update every fortnight (approx). The latest version you installed might have the latest safety camera update included, but I’m not sure… Try updating again next week.

Hello, why is Copilot Central needing Admin Riight to start. In our Corporate Enviremenet noboady has Local Admin Rihts on the Client! And if you start it with a Admin Account, this account normally has no acces to the Internet. So, Copilot Central must be capable to start without Local Admin Rights, otherwise it is not Corporate capable!

Sounds like you’re having to work hard on this one. I’m not able to update using Central either. Any chance you can publish your addition instructions to save time for others. Surely your company arn’t worried about copyright issues because all our product codes have to be unique anyway!

What is the issue with copilot central that the new stuff doesn’t show up in the store? When staring central, it states that ‘there are things for your account available’ , but the only thing i see are maps…
Other thing: when the developers need help with translating from english tot dutch, i can help them. In the menu’s from copilot there are a lot of wrong translations…

Like a number of previous posts I also cannot upgrade my Smartphone as Central 2 tells me there are no upgrades available. I currently have v8.0.0.346.
Prompt response from support, but they told me:
‘Please note if you are being informed there are no updates available, then there is currently no update as this is the latest, most up to date maps.’
Someone needs to tell them about the upgrade

And in copliot central i see no other options than map upgrades, no voices, themes, etc. Is there a chance that someday we can change our copilot from standard to a more customised one (different voices, themes, etc)
Premium Live Services (including Traffic) should be available via Central v2 very soon (this week). We are working on bringing additional voices and themes, but no dates available on that just yet. We’ll post on the blog as soon as we have news to share.
Dear Admin, that pinch2zoom ‘extra’ stuff about the HD2 is complete rubbish.
I have a ‘cooked’ ROM which does not include CoPilot pre-installed. Instead I install the one I bought, and P2Z works fine.
So, why is there still no HD2 update? Surely ALK already have the code for the ‘extras’?!?! Why can’t they take the new build and just re-insert this extra bit of coding?

Also keen to get the UK traffic option as I’ve missed this since upgrading from V7. Given I had about 8 months traffic subscription left on v7, I’d have probably delayed my upgrade if I’d known it would take so long for traffic to arrive on v8!

paid my money only to find it doesn’t work
Support isn’t available because my V8 is over 60 days old and they deny any knowledge of the live services (I have even had to prove I purchased them). Great product, customer service sadly lacking – Unless you have an apple flavour device, for that, ALK have ‘isupport’ and ‘icustomer iservice’ !! I knew once I was on my soap box it would be hard to stop. Lets hope we get these issues resolved soon…..
Running WM6.1 on an Acer F900 with SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 Have upgraded to 8.0.0.557
Previous version worked without any problems. Latest version either hangs after a couple of minutes or crashes out, so cannot use it. Anyone else having these problems?

Have stopped SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 and Copilot v8.0.0.557 now works but I had no problem with the previous version while SPB was running.
The only problem now is the speech – it stutters on the first word. i.e. ‘Just ahead etc’ wil come out as ‘Jus’ pause for a second and then ‘t ahead’
Same problem here. Updated to latest version of SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 but no improvement. If I try to drag/pinch maps it quits Copilot Live.

I’ve upgraded Central and CoPilot 8 on my Phone, but I don’t seem able to purchase any Live services through Central.
Another week goes by and the Windows Mobile update still is not here.
Maybe CP should just admit that TTS is just not ready for prime time. Or, maybe there really are no plans to support TTS and the missing QWERTY keyboard for Windows Mobile.
CP, just tell us the truth. We’re all big boys and girls, we can take it!

Importing ov2-files is still buggy in this new version. I could import them and the program says it loaded 100 waypoint and they show up as they should. But they are gone next time I use CoPilot. The waypoint set is shown in the administer waypoint sets screen, but is not shown nowhere else and cannot be selected for navigation.
C’mon guys, give us a QWERTY keyboard! Or at least explain why do we have such a long delay in getting it. Just like Ron Sustich reminded above, it’s been two weeks over the date we were promised it. We are not talking about quantum physics here. It is just a keyboard that you had on previous versions and then decided to get rid of, Satan knows why! Please, deliver.
