Happily for many, the journey home from the office party this year will be in the company of Addison Lee – Europe’s largest fleet of licensed private-hire taxis.
Booking a licensed taxi guarantees that your trip will be carried out by a licensed driver, and means a record of the journey, driver and vehicle will be kept for reference in the event of a problem. Addison Lee has gone a lot further, equipping their trademark people carriers with a sophisticated job management system that includes fully-integrated CoPilot Live Professional Sat Nav.
Once you’ve ordered a cab, the Addison Lee driver will receive the job details remotely on a Motorola MC55 mobile device installed in each vehicle. The customer collection point is automatically entered into CoPilot Live navigation, which calculates the route and guides the driver straight there with turn-by-turn voice directions and clear 3D maps.
By automating navigation in this way, Addison Lee is able to maintain a 10 minute pickup window in Central London and 20 minutes within the M25, meaning less time to wait in the cold for the ride home.
The system also makes it easier for passengers to safely find and identify their taxi once it arrives, by automatically sending details about the vehicle, its location and driver to the passenger via SMS, using a GPS location generated by CoPilot Live.
With the customer safely collected, the system then continues to guide the driver directly to the required destination.
It’s an appropriately seasonal demonstration of how using mobile devices equipped with integrated satellite navigation can help companies achieve significant competitive advantage through enhanced customer service … and a safer end to a festive night out.
