It’s day one of Mobile World Congress here in Barcelona, and we are pleased to announce CoPilot GPS – an all-new free app coming soon to the iTunes App Store and Android Market.
CoPilot GPS includes the same on-board 2D maps and trip planning that’s available in our paid apps for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. It means that you can find your way even when there’s no mobile signal and avoids the need to use your data allowance for map downloads. Points of interest are pre-installed, and there’s access to Bing and Wikipedia for finding useful places nearby.
We were demonstrating the app at the Show Stoppers media event yesterday, and it was great to see it get picked-up by some of the leading tech bloggers including Engadget and ZDNET.
CoPilot GPS is not designed as a replacement or even an alternative to our flagship full-featured CoPilot Live Premium app. It does not include voice-guided turn directions, automatic recalculation if you miss a turn, speed limit warnings or 3D maps displays, although you can upgrade to these features via an in-app purchase.
We expect that the new app will be available before the end of March via the iTunes app store and Android Market.
Meantime, here’s the press release.

Any word on an Android release date yet? I usually don’t have a need for GPS maps at all but would love to try this for our trip to the Gold Coast in Aussie in early April…
Will you update this page when it’s available?
Yes – absolutely. We’ll post the news here first.
“We expect that the new app will be available before the end of March via the iTunes app store and Android Market.” It’s now 2 April; any word yet?
I know I’m not being very patient, but we head off on holiday soon & I’d love to give the app a test drive (excuse the pun).
Where is Copilot GPS ?Its now the 3rd May and can’t see this page updated?Checked on Apple App Store and not available.as it been shelved or what is happening?
CoPilot GPS will be available in Europe, North America and Australia very soon. We’ll post details here shortly.
Another month and no update, can you tell us what the delay is?
TBH this delay and silence is putting me off Copilot, which might be unfair, so please tell us what is happening.
Arthur – CoPilot GPS has been for available for nearly one month – it’s on the front page of our blog.
