This Friday, Orange France experienced a major service disruption that left customers without access to mobile data for several hours. The network is now back up and running, however the experience is a reminder of the risks of becoming too dependent on mobile internet coverage.
As many people in France discovered on Friday, a lost network connection while using online maps for navigation is inconvenient – and at worse distracting and dangerous. According to NHTSA research in September 2010, 20% of the accidents in 2009 involved reports of distracted driving!
But we have some good news: CoPilot Live navigation app works without a mobile Internet connection, so you will not get lost even if the network goes down. Detailed street maps are stored on-board your mobile or tablet device, so there is no need to worry about being left stranded without navigation in remote locations or data roaming charges when you are travelling abroad.
Also, to ensure your tablet or mobile device’s battery does not leave you in the middle of the road either, we have gathered tips and tricks on how to make your battery last longer. Using navigation apps like CoPilot Live, which use the GPS receiver in your smartphone or tablet can cause your battery life to decrease quite rapidly, but in case you do not have a in car charger, there is a number of things you can do. Please find more information on how to extend your battery life using CoPilot Live here.
We wish you a safe journey!
