Here at CoPilot, as with many of our loyal customers, we’ve long been fans of Microsoft’s mobile platforms. Our original CoPilot GPS navigation app “Pocket CoPilot” was developed for Microsoft’s Pocket PC (back in the days when apps were called applications) and pioneered mobile navigation on Windows Mobile, so now we are delighted to announce an app for Windows Phone 8 – and Windows 8 – at Mobile World Congress 2013.
After a relatively slow start with Windows Phone 7, Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 is gaining momentum as an alternative to Android and iOS in the global battle for smartphone supremacy. With some fantastic handsets from the likes of Nokia, HTC and Samsung, an innovative and polished user experience and a robust app store, it’s also becoming an ideal platform for CoPilot too.
So we are bringing the full CoPilot voice-guided navigation experience to Windows Phone 8 handsets and Windows 8 devices, with advanced turn-by-turn guidance features, comprehensive trip planning and of course quality street maps stored on-board for offline use. There’s a full suite of real-time ‘Live’ services include ActiveTraffic™, Yelp, Wikipedia and Google Search to keep you fully informed on the road.
We are showing-off the app on a variety of Windows Phones at Mobile World Congress. The app itself will be available soon through the Windows Phone Store – more on that nearer the time.

This is great news indeed… I can’t wait for it to be available!
Just what I want for my new HTC 8X phone.
You took your time!!!! All I have to do now is wait for my current 2 year contract to expire, upgrade to WP8 and then maybe, just maybe, think about Co-Pilot. This is after having paid for CP a couple of times already only to find it is useless on WP7. It will probably have to be as competitively priced as Nokia and Google maps!!!
One of my few regrets on leaving behind Android is loss of a fully fledged SatNav program. No news from TomTom. So it looks like CoPilot is first, despite being very late!
Can’t wait.
I hope some the quirks with routing will be fixed. For example when I drag a route it often seems to think I still want to visit places on the original route. Leading to some extremely long journeys (kidding).
It also needs a way to record and use journeys. So if I have a favourite route it should store it away and let me select it to see the traffic situation. I often use local routes that are not calculated automatically.
Hi
Just wondered if you have a specific date when CO PILOT will be actually available to purchase in the UK for Windows 8 mobile?
I have changed my Iphone for a Nokia Lumia, but miss CO PILOT as the Nokia app is not in the same league.
Regards
Ken Lewis
Hello Ken,
we want to ensure it works smoothly in all WP8 devices internationally. Unfortunately I cannot give you a specific date as the go live also depends on Microsoft’s approval, but we are definitely working on it to get it out as soon as possible. By the way, Auto Express tested it on the road as well and gave us 5 stars, so looking good:)
