CoPilot GPS Android update is here!

android copilot gpsHello Androidians! Our latest version of CoPilot Live sat nav is now available as a free update also for Android CoPilot GPS through Google Play (and web link download for our web store customers).

This latest app update brings new features, FREE updated street maps* and greater integration with the Android operating system. We have also made a variety of improvements to the app based on the detailed feedback and ideas you’ve sent us through our forum and social media sites (Facebook, Twitter & G+) – thank you!

How to use CoPilot Live Premium with Apple Maps in iOS 6

Since Apple released iOS 6 there’s been an avalanche of criticism of its most significant new feature: Apple Maps. There’s probably not a great deal we can add to the masses of opinion on the blogosphere other than it just goes to show the extent to which we’ve come to take maps on our phones for granted. As the song goes, you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.

However for us, there’s one particular aspect of Apple Maps that we really like: that’s the ability to launch other apps for directions. We’ve implemented this in our latest 9.3 version of CoPilot Live Premium for iOS, so now you can find a place using Apple Maps and then navigate there using CoPilot. Read More »

CoPilot Live Premium 9.3 now available for iOS

iphone5 copilot updatedGood news for our Apple users! Our latest iOS app update – v9.3 -  has been approved by Apple and is available right now from the App Store.

This update brings full screen support for iPhone 5, integration with iOS 6 Apple Maps Routing and FREE updated street maps. It also includes an array of improvements based on the detailed feedback and ideas you’ve sent us through our forum and social media sites – thank you!

Highlights in v.9.3 for iOS:

  •  Designed for iPhone 5: take full advantage of the new iPhone’s 4″ retina screen with incredible widescreen map views in landscape and tall-screen navigation in portrait

Summer is over, but here at CoPilot we’ve decided to brighten up your autumn with our all new colour schemes!

Back in August we shared some of the concepts on our shortlist and asked you to vote which ones you’d like us to add to your CoPilot Live Premium sat nav app.

We are proud to announce the three most popular themes that have made the cut and are available now in our new 9.3 version of CoPilot Live and CoPilot GPS Android and iOS versions.

A FREE map update is here!

uk sat nav map update copilot M74We’ve been putting the finishing touches to our latest app update for CoPilot Live Premium and CoPilot GPS (v9.3) – in fact it’s available right now on the App Store, Google Play and CoPilot Webstore.

In addition to a variety of improvements and new features, arguably the biggest deal in this update is completely updated NAVTEQ maps for our customers in Europe, Australasia and South Africa. That’s a free map update folks!

As we all know, maps are at the heart of any sat nav system, and keeping them up to date is important. We use premium quality (and expensive!) maps from NAVTEQ, as used by most leading in-car nav systems, and previously we’ve only been able to bring you updates on an occasional basis.

However, in addition to this free update, we’ll be bringing Premium customers regular free updates in the future too. So think of your CoPilot purchase as an investment in the future – for features AND updated quality maps.*

CoPilot Live welcomes the new iPhone5

The hotly anticipated new iPhone has been unveiled and as widely predicted it’s an all new design: thinner metal case, a fantastic larger screen and the new connector.

iPhone 5: What is new?

The new iPhone 5  has a similar look and feel as its other family members, but has a taller, larger 4-inch screen and is 18% thinner and 20% lighter than the iPhone 4S. The material itself is now made entirely of glass and aluminium, but unfortunately the rumour regarding the new connector was true – iPhone5 device will require a different size charging cord than previous models, making it complicated to use existing Apple docking stations and speakers designed for the old iPhone cord. Luckily there will be an adapter available, which means you are still able to use the old Apple devices. iOS 6 is available with Passbook and Apple’s Maps, Apple’s proprietary mapping and navigation app and the replacement for Google Maps on iOS.

 

Here’s a few reasons why we’re celebrating the new iPhone here at CoPilot

  • The new iPhone is ideal for sat nav. That new screen is perfect for CoPilot’s in-car guidance, bringing the same large display experience to iPhone that many Android smartphone owners take for granted. Whether it’s widescreen sat nav in landscape or tall-screen navigation in portrait, we’ll be ensuring that CoPilot is iPhone 5-ready from day 1
  • CoPilot integrates with Apple Maps. We also welcome the arrival of Apple’s own maps app, not least because we’ve integrated CoPilot with it. You can find a location on the map and navigate there using CoPilot’s full featured in-car guidance. As with all CoPilot apps, our maps are stored on the phone for reliable use when there’s no mobile internet connection available. Here is an example how it will work.
  • A giant leap for smartphone navigation? We think that Apple’s maps will increase awareness about smartphone sat nav in general. We’ve spent the past decade evangelising about how smartphones are the ideal platform for navigation thanks to their connectivity for live journey information, convenient portability and their hi-res touch screens. The new iPhone will surely further the cause – and we’ll continue to offer a premium sat nav choice, introducing new innovations to make car journeys easier, safer and more predictable.

To celebrate the new iPhone, starting from next week we will be giving away CoPilot Live Premium sat nav apps…and something big for the Apple fans  (and Android fans – we have not forgotten about you either). Skins coming to CoPilot – Vote for your favourite!

It’s August, and that means holiday for some of us. Not so for our development team who are hard at work finalising our next CoPilot Live satnav app update. One of the things we’ll be introducing in the next update is the ability to change the colour scheme in CoPilot. In other words, skins are on the way!

We tasked our designers to come up with a variety of options – “use your imagination” we said – and to tell the truth, we’ve been pretty impressed with the results. But we can’t decide which ones we prefer – and that’s where we could use some help from you.
